Final Donation Update

So it's been nearly two weeks since I completed the epic adventure that was Football to Amsterdam 2016 for Prostate Cancer UK.

The sponsorship and donations have been simply amazing. A massive thank you to everyone who has so kindly and so generously sponsored and supported me with donations.

My original target was £1,000. As of today, I have amassed 175% of this target and my total stands at £1,753

Donation Update

My fund raising continues and thanks to some very recent and generous donations I have now surpassed the £1,700 mark on my Just Giving page!

Currently, I have raised an amazing £1,713 which is 171% of my original sponsorship target.

News Story in Local Press

Really pleased to read a news story in my local paper on Saturday. The Stour & Avon Magazine ran a really nice story in their Health & Wellbeing section on page 24.

Prostate Cancer UK's Fund Raising League Table

Really, really pleased to see I made the Prostate Cancer UK's Fund Raising League Table. Currently in 5th position with a sponsorship total so far on my Just Giving page of £1,603.

Outstanding fundraising by Stephen, Gavin, and Stacey, who've all smashed the £2k threshold! Amazing work!

I didn't realise that the top fund raisers get awarded the illustrious Orange jersey! As you can see modelled by Watford, AC Milan and AFC Bournemouth legend Luther Blissett on last years ride in the picture below.

A Humbling Donation Message

On Saturday morning, I received a £50 donation on my Just Giving page for the London to Amsterdam Charity Bike Ride for Prostate Cancer UK from a man I've never met with the following message....

Go Gary and good luck. I am a season ticket holder in the East Stand and currently being treated for prostate cancer. I am so grateful for guys like you, Thank you for your huge effort.

It makes all the training miles and the 145 miles I'll ride all worth it!
A huge thank you to an amazingly brave and kind man.

Donation Update

I thought I'd share an update on how my fund-raising is going. 

To say that I'm more than a little overwhelmed by the amazing generosity and kindness from friends, family, and colleagues would be understatement!

Since creating the JustGiving page in early January 2016, the donations and sponsorship amounts have regularly increased my total fund raising monies. Exceeding my initial target of £1,000 by £553, as it stands today (28th April 2016).

Total = £1,553 (155% of fund raising target!)

I am so pleased to write this update on my sponsorship target of £1,000 has now reached 149%, with current donations standing at an amazing £1,490

Fund Raising & Donation Update

I created and set up the Just Giving page for the London to Amsterdam charity bike ride a little over 6 weeks ago, raising money for Prostate Cancer UK.
My intention and target was to raise £1,000 in the 5 months before I departed on the ride on Friday 3rd June 2016.
As of this morning, thanks to the amazing generosity and kind support of friends, family and work colleagues my fund raising target has reached 118% of my original sponsorship target having so far had donations totalling £1,180.
I have personally thanked everyone who has sponsored me so far, I've had unbelievable support.

But the question for me now is "do I amend my original sponsorship target?".

Will anyone be put off donating if they see I've already hit my minimum sponsorship target?
I'm not sure they will, but any comments, advice or opinions would be appreciated.

Smashed IT!

Totally amazed and slightly overwhelmed as I've smashed my fund raising target of £1,000 for Prostate Cancer UK. 

The kindness and generosity from friends, family and work colleagues has been absolutely amazing. 

In just 6 weeks of setting up my Just Giving page and starting this blog, whilst making a "noise" on social media, I've passed the £1,000 target and still have four and half months before I depart on the 3rd June 2016. 

So I wonder how much I can raise by then?

What is this blog about?

The intention of this blog is to document and share my preparation, training and attempt at a 145 mile charity bike ride!
